Ms. Babos’ class at Renaissance Charter School of St. Lucie created winter displays based on a winter book they read. The criteria was that it had to be 3D and be about the winter book they read. Students had the chance to show off their project to their classmates talking about the book and why they created the project. Ms. Babos took it a step further having the class do a gallery walk to see everyone’s project, and then the class each had to stand up and pick someone else’s project as their favorite defending why they liked it. She pushed students to higher level thinking not accepting answers like “it’s pretty” or “they did a good job”. Students really had to think about why they liked another students project and why that project told the story of the book. The students had a great time and the answers observed were very well thought out!
