Fifth graders in Ms. Andrew’s Science class at Renaissance Charter School of St. Lucie had a “sweet” experiment! They have been discussing different types of variables used when conducting a science experiment (independent, dependent, and controlled) and were able to get some hands on experience with a fall favorite treat! The students used different liquids to see which ones would dissolve candy corn the fastest. The students made predictions and were eager to watch what happened! It was interesting to see how the waxy layer on the surface pulled away from the candy and which liquids actually did dissolve the candy corn the fastest!
