Fourth graders in Mrs. Hitchner’s art class at Renaissance Charter School of St Lucie got to experiment with unusual art materials showing some holiday spirit! They students used Christmas tree clippings to design a dress! After a lesson in art-making components students were given materials and were allowed to analyze and synthesize the creative process for themselves. Mrs. Hitchner had the class make only one dress, this allowed students to practice group communication skills as they needed to articulate ideas and opinions while also practicing listening skills. This lesson hoped to expand their views of what art can be and strengthen their abilities to make artistic choices. All the visitors enjoy seeing this unique product as they enter the school!
